March 19 Sports

Hahahahahaha the headline to this is absolutely priceless

-kareem top 10 skyhooks, it gets really epic near the end

-kareem skyhook buzzer beater, it was magic's debut

-the description under this video is really good

4. Brenan Hanifee, the Turner Ashby pitcher who the Orioles drafted back in 2016 who played on the same team at TA with and is good friends with a guy named Jordan I worked with at Ciro's, made his MLB debut last year!!!!!!! He made the majors, I had no idea. Apparently he left the Orioles system after 2022 and the Tigers picked him up, and that's who he made his debut for:

First pitch/at-bat:

March 19

It's crazy it's even south of Malta

It's so insane that at 11,995 feet, the record low of Lhasa is way higher than the record low of Harrisonburg!!!! It says the coldest temperature ever in Lhasa is 2.3, it's not even below zero, and the record low in Harrisonburg is -25!!!!!!!

This is a really cool post from this January by WHSV about the history of the local Dale Enterprise Weather Station, it is the third oldest in the country!!!!!!!

And that took me to this cool page they have on the WHSV web site, a compilation of local extreme weather history events like the snowstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes!!

3. Haha The The's hit song is probably "A a"

4. The pink grasshopper article was really cool

    Hahaha this was absolutely incredible

March 16 Sports

1. "Apparently Wooden grew up in southern Indiana. His high school team was beaten one of his years in the state HS championship by a team from Muncie"

      No way that's crazy!

3. The Dodgers are moving Mookie Betts officially to shortstop!!

Adam Jones and Matt Wieters were at the Orioles spring training!!!!!!!

5. This is the really intense ending to the Pacers Timberwolves game on March 7:

Tyrese Haliburton was feeding everyone down the stretch and keeping them going toe to toe with the Timberwolves but unfortunately the Pacers lost on the insane flying block by Anthony Edwards to end it.

It was absolutely ridiculous, this is a video with replays of the block:

Haliburton played really well vs. the Thunder on March 12 to take them down, the highlights are really good:

And then the next night things went absolutely insane down the stretch vs. the Bulls, I was watching it and it was so crazy:

6. Manute Bol moved for awhile to Olathe, Kansas, the place I was stranded for several days!!!!

I randomly discovered that reading his page, I couldn't believe it. His son Bol Bol who plays for the Phoenix Suns now who I just learned about seeing him in the game last night grew up there!! It has a large South Sudanese population apparently!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bol_Bol#Early_life

7. Bournemouth came back all the way from 3-0 down on Wednesday to win 4-3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And this came after they came back from 2-0 down on Saturday to equalize it 2-2 in stoppage time, so they did both of those in 5 days!!!!!!!!!

8. Premier League and Champions League highlights:

9. After Arsenal's 86th minute winner on Saturday and Liverpool and City's 1-1 draw on Sunday, Arsenal have gone top of the table!!!!!!! It is absolutely insanely close:

1. Arsenal: 64 points
2. Liverpool: 64 points
3. City: 63 points

With 10 games to go, the top 3 are separated by only a point, and Arsenal are in first on goal difference. Here we go.

March 16

1. Jeanne Calment, the oldest person ever recorded, born in Arles, France on February 21, 1875 and died in Arles on August 4, 1997 at 122, was alive at the same time as both me and Cornelius Vanderbilt, who was born in 1794

Haha I tried to find the most ridiculous one, she was also alive at the same time as Charles Darwin and Karl Marx

There's also Horace Binney, a U.S. representative born in 1780, and Marie-Anne Gaboury, the first white woman to settle in Western Canada, born in 1780. Jeanne Calment was alive at the same time as all of them and me

Haha there is apparently a band called The the.

3. "Shenandoah valley was just a jeopardy answer on a question regarding the civil war both and south vying for the fertile valley"

No way that is so amazing that's crazy!!!!

4. Haha he so does look exactly like an Arctic fox in that picture!!

     Good sleepy wolf

5. "Diamond claims that 1000 of the worlds 6000 languages are in New Guinea!!!!"

I had no idea, that is absolutely insane!!!!!!!

6. I could not wrap my head around that and I was really curious as to why that would be, so I looked it up and I found this really good thread with some really interesting answers and a high level language discussion:

https://www.reddit.com/r/linguistics/comments/8768ku/why_does_papua_new_guinea_have_so_many_languages/

7. Haha I stumbled upon this on Spotify when a song from this guy about Charlottesville popped up, this is utterly insane:

And I found he has a song about Harrisonburg!!!!

Haha it's pretty underwhelming unfortunately. But I love the insanity of the whole thing.

8. This was really interesting and good clarifying information:

9. This was absolutely amazing, I had no idea a passenger plane had gone from New York to London in 2 hours 52 minutes 59 seconds!!!!!!! That is an insane record, it is even more insane that that happened all the way back in 1996:

The plane looks so so cool and pretty in the picture too.
